"I wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling, and find out knowledge of witty inventions." Proverbs 8:12
Yesterday we discussed that wisdom has made her dwelling with prudence. Now, in the latter part of this verse we see that wisdom finds out knowledge of witty inventions.
Knowledge is Strong's Concordance number H1847 Da'ath. It means knowledge, perception, skill; cunning. It comes from the word ya'da which is Strong's Concordance number H3045 meaning to know and to see.
The Ancient Hebrew Analysis: the access to see the sign
In The Scriptures version from the Institute of Scripture Research it says,"...and I find knowledge, foresight." What is foresight? The act or the power of foreseeing, provident care.
Wisdom gives us the ability to see what is ahead. It gives us access or the ability to see the signs ahead by looking at the core or the heart of the matter. Do we see a red light, green light, or a caution light?
When we see the red light or caution light do we stop and reevaluate? Or do we move ahead and do our hearts desire?
The next portion of this scriptures is the term "witty inventions". This term is often translated as discretion.
It is Strong's Concordance number H4209 Mezimmah. It means a plan, usually evil but sometimes good. It comes from the word zamam which is Strong's Concordance number H2161 meaning to have a thought, devise, plan, consider, purpose.
This has to do with the witty inventions of the mind. The two letter root of this word means to plot, plan, or mischief; devise a plan of action.
The Ancient Hebrew Analysis: To question the nourishment of the water you are beholding.
Discretion is having the thought to question what is laid before you. Should you indulge or should you refrain? Discretion is to counsel with yourself before action. Once you have been prudent in judgement, then you can create a plan for the situation.
This word Mezimmah can be good or bad. We can be planning in righteousness or we can be be plotting according to a wicked and vain imagination.
Wisdom gives you the ability to see if a plan is of Yahuah or of our own desire and flesh.
"When wisdom enter into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee" Proverbs 2:10 - 11
Prayer Point: Ask Yahusha to give me a mind that is filled with righteous knowledge and discretion.
Reflection: When Yahuah shows me that I'm headed down the wrong path, what do I do?
